RIGHT KEYNOTE CONVENTION SPEAKER

How To Book the Right Keynote Convention Speaker.

Ask any convention speaker if they can give a keynote speech for your convention and they will probably say: “It all depends on what you mean by a convention keynote speech.”

Unfortunately, the term ‘keynote speech’ is often misunderstood. Sometimes people say: “Well, you know, a funny 45 minute speech with content” or, “You know, an after dinner speech.” Some will say “We need an opening keynote speech which sets up our three-day convention program.” All three of these assignments are easy to deliver, but only one is a keynote speech.

Let’s look at these three types of programs. First, the ‘after dinner speech’, generally it’s intended to be fun, lively and funny. This is not the time to try to set a course for the meeting, but this is a great opportunity to use a convention speaker to warm up the audience before giving out awards or honoring employees.

The second type of speech is the funny speech with content. More and more organizations will not settle for just a funny speaker any longer. Companies want more value and are demanding high content from their convention speakers. These talks can range from customer service to leadership or any topical issue and presented with humor to make for an enjoyable learning experience.

The third speech is the convention keynote speech. The purpose of a keynote is to set the actual tone for the meeting. Some examples of keynote speeches can be the introduction of a new product, the merging of two companies, or even how we can do more with less. A good keynote speaker can take your message or mission and blend it with stories, humor and end with a call to action. Done correctly, a keynote speech will give your meeting a jump start and a theme that is talked about throughout the meeting.

So decide what kind of a speech and result you want for your event. Then tell your professional speaker exactly what you want and let them give it to you. Relax and Enjoy.
